Sinopsis

Stephanie is an ambitious career woman who knows exactly the roles she has to play. In the office, she is the perfect employee. She works long hours and covers for everyone. At home, she is the perfect mom and wife. Lately, she’s been feeling absolutely overwhelmed. While trying to be everywhere at the same time, she will encounter the limits to her own identity.

Directors’ Notes

When we decided to film this project, we discussed the look we wanted to give it. And we ended up choosing a classical Hollywood narrative style, because we wanted to create a confrontation with the critical theme of the short. As one can see, while the frames and the image are clear and well-ordered, like the TV advertising spots that sell us a brand, the narrative content of Encounter poses a whole series of contradictions of our contemporary society. Stephanie, the main character, is presented as a “model” contemporary woman: bourgeois, well-off, worker and mother. However, behind the clean designer façade, her life is subjected to a whole series of social roles and pressure that perhaps she may not be able to control.
